Asbestos Garage Roof Removal

By far the most common product containing asbestos found in the home is the garage roof. Some old free-standing or ex-local authority garages also contain Asbestos cement walls. Asbestos Vinyl Products

Vinyl is a plastic resin manufactured from ethylene and chlorine and often mixed with asbestos for greater strength and insulation. The construction industry favoured asbestos materials as an essential component of fire-resistant buildings. Both vinyl and asbestos were inexpensive and easy to work with and were commonly used in Vinyl Wallpaper, Vinyl Floor Tiles and Vinyl Sheet Flooring.

Artex Ceilings Testing and Removal

Asbestos Textured coatings were used on walls and ceilings in council properties and commercial buildings right up to the mid-’90s. Artex containing Asbestos was a popular decorative technique that can be found in many homes constructed before 1999. Artex containing Asbestos is safe while in good condition but damaged flaking asbestos can be very dangerous. Do not attempt to scrape, sand or remove old Artex without seeking advice first. Insulation Board

Insulation board containing Asbestos was often used as fire protection and sound insulation. If your property was build after 1982, it is unlikely that it was constructed using Asbestos Insulation Boards.

Lagging containing Asbestos was commonly used as thermal insulation for pipes and boilers during the 60’s and 70’s. Asbestos Lagging was a popular product in the public sector used in the construction of most public buildings and system built flats.

Sprayed Coatings

Asbestos Sprayed Coatings were regularly applied to steel structures to increase thermal protection. Asbestos spray was often applied to Service Ducts and Lift Shafts up until the mid 70’s.
